One example: the £3.5 billion Jubilee Line Extension, a state-of-the-art addition to the London Underground Railway system.
The London Underground Railway network serves 275 stations and more than 3,000,000 passengers daily. The network uses Tyco Fire & Security systems to improve safety and security.

Taking a decade to construct, the network's Jubilee Line Extension is a remarkable achievement in infrastructure design, engineering and public architecture. It travels 16 kilometers beneath the heart of London, and is the only Underground line to connect with the entire tube network, resulting in commensurate heavy ridership.

With so much at stake, the JLE relies on a complex fire protection system from Tyco Fire & Security. We designed, installed and maintain systems throughout the stations, the railway tunnel and the escape and ventilation shafts.

These systems include electronic fire detection systems, 85 kilometers of hydrant pipework, 2,000 fire sprinklers, 450 control valves, 500 hydrant outlets, 150 hose reels and 1,200 portable extinguishers.
